Québec Delegation Connects with Ontario’s Nuclear Industry

The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI), with the support of Invest Québec International, welcomed a Québec delegation to Ontario for a program of industry presentations, business-to-business (B2B) meetings and facility tours. Hosted by Candu Energy Inc., an AtkinsRéalis company, the opening event connected Québec companies with Ontario’s nuclear industry to explore opportunities for collaboration and build relationships within Canada’s nuclear supply chain.

The program opened with a welcome breakfast and remarks from representatives of Invest Québec International and OCNI. Presentations from Candu Energy Inc., Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Aecon, GE Vernova Hitachi and Waterloo EDC provided delegates with insights into Ontario’s nuclear sector, project activity and supplier opportunities. OPG’s participation brought an important utility perspective to the discussions, alongside presentations focused on small modular reactors and the Darlington New Nuclear Project.

Delegates then participated in B2B meetings with Ontario companies, creating opportunities to introduce their capabilities, discuss shared interests and establish connections for future business. The program also included visits to the CANDU simulator, science room and immersive lab, followed by a site tour and presentation at BWXT in Cambridge. Further visits to BWXT and Westinghouse facilities in Peterborough gave delegates a closer look at the capabilities supporting Canada’s nuclear industry.

OCNI thanks Candu Energy Inc. for hosting the event, OPG for its participation, Invest Québec International for its collaborative support, and BWXT and Westinghouse for welcoming delegates to their facilities. The strong turnout from OCNI members for the B2B meetings, together with their willingness to host presentations and facility tours, reflects the active role they play in supporting both domestic and international trade missions.

By sharing their capabilities and opening their facilities to visiting companies, OCNI members help turn introductions into lasting relationships. These exchanges support closer connections between provincial supply chains and strengthen opportunities for Canadian companies to participate in nuclear projects at home and abroad.
