Bruce Power and Shawflex Highlighted 12-Year Master Supply Agreement During OCNI Supplier Engagement Event
Vaughan, ON – The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI), in partnership with Shawflex, a division of MATTR Corp., hosted a Supplier Engagement Event on July 7, 2026, at Shawflex’s facility located at 336 Courtland Ave. in Vaughan, Ontario.
As part of the event, Bruce Power and Shawflex highlighted the signing of a new 12-year Master Supply Agreement covering the supply of highly engineered electrical wire, cable, components, and assemblies supporting Bruce Power’s ongoing operations and future projects.
The agreement built on a long-standing partnership between the organizations and reflected Bruce Power’s continued commitment to Canadian-made supply chain solutions. The partnership supported Shawflex’s recent investments in expanding its Ontario-based manufacturing capabilities, helping sustain and grow highly skilled local jobs while strengthening domestic nuclear supply chain capacity.
Under the agreement, Shawflex will support ongoing maintenance activities, major component replacement initiatives, life extension work, and potential future reactor construction activities at Bruce Power. The agreement also reflected the increasing importance of long-term supplier partnerships as refurbishment projects, small modular reactor development, and broader energy infrastructure investments continued across Canada.
The event was part of OCNI’s ongoing Supplier Engagement series, which is designed to strengthen connections between suppliers and utilities, support supply chain readiness, and provide direct insight into current and upcoming procurement opportunities across Canada’s nuclear sector. Bringing together suppliers, utilities, government representatives, and industry stakeholders, the event created opportunities for practical discussions on project needs, timelines, and partnership opportunities while providing attendees with a firsthand look at Shawflex’s Ontario manufacturing operations.
OCNI continues to work with members and partners to support the long-term growth, competitiveness, and readiness of Canada’s nuclear supply chain.
Quotes:
“Supplier engagement remains a critical component of ensuring Canada’s nuclear supply chain is aligned, informed, and ready to deliver. By bringing together suppliers, utilities, and partners in a focused setting, we are helping to create the conditions for stronger collaboration and more effective project execution.”
Ivette Vera-Perez, President and CEO, OCNI

This agreement reflects the innovation and expertise that exist right here in our community, and I look forward to seeing Shawflex continue to grow and succeed for years to come.”
Chris Ainsworth, Ward 4, Councillor, City of Vaughan
“This agreement between Bruce Power and Shawflex is great news for Vaughan and Canada’s growing clean-energy industry. Shawflex has built a strong reputation for innovation and manufacturing excellence right here in Vaughan, and I am thrilled this investment will help create and sustain highly skilled jobs, drive economic growth and support the long-term clean-energy needs of our communities. On behalf of Mayor Steven Del Duca, I want to express my sincerest congratulations to Bruce Power and Shawflex on this meaningful milestone.”
Linda Jackson, Deputy Mayor of Vaughan, Local and Regional Councillor
“I applaud Bruce Power and Shawflex for their commitment to growing their operations in Ontario and enhancing our domestic supply chain. This supply agreement will help create and sustain hundreds of good-paying jobs, including many here in Thornhill, while strengthening our economy and further solidifying Ontario as a global leader in nuclear.”
Laura Smith, Member of Provincial Parliament for Thornhill
“This is what Canadian energy leadership looks like. Ontario’s nuclear workers are the best in the world, and every contract signed with a supplier like this one means paycheques for skilled workers and families instead of promises on paper. Nuclear already provides about 60 per cent of Ontario’s electricity and supports tens of thousands of well-paying jobs across the country. That is real, affordable, reliable power, made right here at home. We should not be importing energy solutions when we have uranium from Saskatchewan, reactors designed in Canada, and the workers to build it all right here at home. Projects like Bruce Power’s Major Component Replacement and the Darlington Refurbishment are proof that when government gets out of the way and lets industry build, Canada wins. Congratulations on a momentous partnership.”
Melissa Lantsman, Member of Parliament for Thornhill, Deputy Leader of the Official Opposition
