OCNI Welcomes Kenyan Delegation to Explore Canada’s Nuclear Ecosystem

OCNI was pleased to welcome a delegation from Kenya to learn more about Canada’s nuclear ecosystem and supply chain capabilities.
The program, organized in partnership with Global Affairs Canada, brought together representatives from government, industry, academia, and research organizations to showcase the breadth of expertise supporting Canada’s nuclear sector, from policy and workforce development to research, innovation, manufacturing, and project delivery.
The visit also supported Kenya’s progression under the IAEA Milestones framework by strengthening understanding of Phase 3 readiness requirements. It highlighted Canada’s strengths across the nuclear lifecycle, including CANDU technology, fuel security, waste management, and long-term program sustainability.
Discussions explored opportunities for technical cooperation, institutional partnerships, and private sector engagement.
As countries around the world explore nuclear energy to support energy security and economic growth, international engagement helps showcase the strength of Canada’s nuclear industry and the expertise that exists across the country’s nuclear ecosystem.
Supporting these connections is an important part of OCNI’s role in promoting Canadian nuclear capabilities abroad, strengthening relationships with international partners, and helping create opportunities for future collaboration.
