Driving Global Healthcare Innovation: Inside Team Canada’s Trade Mission to EANM 2026

As global demand grows for life-saving radiopharmaceuticals and theranostic innovations, Canada is becoming recognized as a reliable partner in the global isotope supply chain. To advance these vital international partnerships and open new market opportunities for Canadian suppliers, OCNI and Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council (CNIC) brought a Team Canada delegation of industry leaders to the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) 2026 Congress in Vienna, 17-21 October 2026.

Connecting on the World Stage

The week opened on Saturday 17 October as Team Canada joined international peers at the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception. Throughout the congress floor, conversations centered on the latest advances in theranostics, targeted radiopharmaceuticals, and novel imaging technologies. These are areas where Canadian suppliers and researchers are actively breaking ground.

Building strong international networks requires personal connections as much as technical expertise. On Sunday evening, Canadian delegates joined the Canadian Association of Nuclear Medicine (CANM) at THE VIEW overlooking Vienna, fostering collaboration across clinical and industrial boundaries. The momentum carried into Monday’s flagship Canadian Networking Reception at the historic Melker Stiftskeller, bringing together delegates, European buyers, and global stakeholders to celebrate Canada’s expanding footprint in the isotope economy.

Bridging Policy, Science, and Diplomacy

Beyond the congress exhibition halls, the mission focused on long-term policy alignment and global supply security:

  • Global Health & Isotope Security at the IAEA: On Tuesday 20 October the delegation visited the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) headquarters. Discussions centered on radiopharmaceutical supply chains, global cancer therapy equity, and strategic opportunities for Canadian industry to support international radiation medicine initiatives.
  • Diplomatic Strategy at the Canadian Embassy: The mission concluded on Wednesday 21 October with a strategic briefing at the Embassy of Canada in Vienna hosted by Ambassador Alison Grant. Discussions focused on securing commercial pathways in European markets, strengthening Canada’s global competitiveness, and ensuring robust cross-border supply networks.

Beyond the Conference Floor

Trade missions like EANM 2026 create tangible commercial opportunities for Canadian suppliers while reinforcing Canada’s reputation as a dependable, world-class hub for medical isotopes and nuclear technology.

Our sincere thanks to our partners at CNIC, our dedicated delegates, and our international hosts for an exceptional week in Vienna. Together, we continue to secure Canada’s leadership on the global nuclear stage.
