OCNI / Stellarex Energy Webinar: CFE Lecture Series – Fusion Energy Fundamentals

June 8 @ 10:00 am 11:00 am ET

As the world races to meet the dual challenges of climate change and growing energy demands, fusion energy is no longer a distant dream, but a rapidly advancing industrial field poised to reshape our energy landscape.

The recently announced Centre for Fusion Energy (CFE) serves as Canada’s national collaboration platform, enabling government, industry, and academia to accelerate the development and deployment of domestic fusion technology.

By driving a coordinated national program, the CFE ensures Canada develops the technical know-how to act as a lead architect for whole reactor systems, with the capacity to deploy a national demonstration device within the decade.

This Fusion Energy Fundamentals webinar is the first in a collaborative series of fusion lectures hosted by the CFE partners.

Nuclear fusion, the ultimate energy process that powers the Sun and the stars, has transitioned from experimental science to industrial-scale engineering.

By safely fusing hydrogen isotopes (deuterium and tritium) to form heavier elements, fusion represents a transformative source of clean, non-intermittent power with no long-lived radioactive waste and virtually limitless fuel.

Dr. Spencer Pitcher, a University of Toronto graduate, has worked for more than 40 years on major fusion programs around the world included the world’s largest international program, the ITER project in France. Dr. Pitcher is co-founder and CEO of Stellarex Energy, a Canadian Fusion company with the goal of accelerating the commercialization and economical deployment of fusion power.
