OCNI and Amelia Alliance Sign Agreement to Advance Supplier Diversity in Canada’s Nuclear Supply Chain

Niagara Falls, ON – October 7, 2025 – The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amelia Alliance, a women-founded social enterprise dedicated to unlocking visibility and opportunity for women and gender-diverse (women+) suppliers to grow in critical infrastructure sectors.. The agreement was officially signed yesterday during the Women in Nuclear (WiN) Canada Conference in Niagara Falls.

This new collaboration will strengthen cooperation between OCNI and Amelia Alliance to enhance visibility, access, and participation for women+ business owners in Canada’s nuclear supply chain. Together, the organizations will work to develop programs that:

  • Support OCNI members in advancing supplier diversity initiatives.
  • Create pathways for women+ and Indigenous-owned businesses to engage in the nuclear sector.
  • Increase membership and visibility for underrepresented suppliers within OCNI; and
  • Promote collaboration toward achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)  including Gender Equality (SDG 5), Affordable Clean Energy (SDG 7), and Climate Action (SDG 13).

The MoU also outlines mutual commitments to share expertise, promote events and initiatives, and collaborate on training and capacity-building activities designed to accelerate inclusive growth within Canada’s clean energy ecosystem.

“This collaboration with Amelia Alliance is an important step forward in building a truly inclusive and resilient nuclear supply chain,” said Ivette Vera Perez, President & CEO of OCNI. “Advancing women+ and Indigenous-owned businesses isn’t just about equity; it’s about realizing economic opportunity. By actively opening pathways for underrepresented suppliers, we are bringing in new expertise, driving innovation, and ensuring the Canadian nuclear sector remains a world-class leader in clean energy.”

Amelia Alliance co-founders Jackie Arnold and Susan Brissette said “The National Study: Advancing Women+ Owned Businesses in Canada’s Nuclear Sector, funded by Women in Nuclear Canada shows that the barrier is access, not capability. The women+ owned business who participated in the study overwhelmingly expressed a desire to participate in the growth of Canada’s nuclear sector”

Ms. Vera-Perez also joined a panel at the WiN Canada Conference, alongside leaders from Women in Nuclear Canada, SaskPower and Amelia Alliance, to discuss the newly released national study Advancing Women+ Owned Businesses in Canada’s Nuclear Sector. This new report outlines practical short, medium, and long-term recommendations that can make measurable progress on advancing women+ owned businesses across the sector.
