OCNI – Ontario Government Nuclear Energy Mission to Romania and Poland Information Session

May 13 @ 9:00 am 10:00 am ET

OCNI, in partnership with the Trade Commissioner Service and the Ontario Government, is pleased to invite you to an upcoming webinar exploring nuclear new build opportunities in Romania and Poland, ahead of our OCNI – Ontario Government Nuclear Energy Mission in October 26-30, 2026.

Join us for a focused one-hour session featuring insights from the Trade Commissioners responsible for the nuclear files in the two markets, who will provide an overview of the energy and nuclear landscape, emerging opportunities, and key developments shaping these markets. This webinar is designed to help OCNI members better understand the business environment, identify potential partnerships, and prepare for engagement during the upcoming trade mission.

Romania – Canada and Romania have been longstanding partners in the nuclear sphere with a history of cooperation spanning over 40 years. Romania has two nuclear reactors at the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant, which use CANDU-6 technology, and is planning to build two more CANDU units, Cernavoda 3&4. The estimated value of the project is CAD$ 10.1 to $10.9 billion, with an intended end date by 2031/2032. For the new build project, Canada announced its decision to make CAD$ 3 billion in export financing available to the Romanian nuclear utility Nuclearelectrica.

Poland – Since the Nuclear Cooperation Agreement was signed between Canada and Poland in January 2025, AtkinsRéalis/Candu was invited to join the “competitive dialogue” on technology selection and strategic partnership for the second nuclear power plant. The company entered the Site 2 race after Westinghouse and EDF had already established strong visibility in Poland. The Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium is negotiating an EPC contract with PEJ, a state-owned special-purpose company, to build three AP-1000 reactors for Site 1 on the Baltic coast. EDC signed an LoI with PEJ to provide CAD$2 billion in export financing for the Westinghouse project. OSGE, a joint venture of state-owned Orlen and privately owned Synthos Green Energy, is completing the PSAR with Laurentis Energy Partners and GE Vernova Hitachi and plans to apply for a construction permit by late 2026 to build six BWRX-300 SMRs in Włocławek.

What you’ll gain:

· Market overviews of Romania and Poland

· Insights into current industry activity and future growth areas

· Opportunities for collaboration and market entry

· The chance to ask questions directly to in-market experts

Whether you are already participating in the trade mission or exploring international

We hope you can join us for this informative session.
