Opportunities in Wales
Hinkley Point C
Welsh companies are already embedded in the project, approaching 100 companies approved as suppliers to the project. EDF have stated that those performing well in delivery at Hinkley will be included in the Supply Chain for Sizewell B as it is set to be a replica of this project.
Indications are that for Hinkley Point C, the contract values coming into Wales are greater than £700million over the coming years. This project provides an opportunity for the Canadian supply chain to work with approved Welsh companies in cooperation and partnership
Trawsfynydd Development Company
The Welsh Government is establishing a technology agnostic company to bring forward the potential for either/or an SMR/AMR, Research reactor and work around medical isotopes on the site.
In addition to this, North Wales is home to an Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, the Nuclear Futures Institute at Bangor University and the proposed Thermal Hydraulic Test Facility which will provide a new generation of reactors with a state-of-the-art experimental research and test facility to underpin the validation of computer modelling and support the safety cases for new reactor designs.
